From prepared statements, Fed Chairman Bernanke plans to tell Congress today that the U.S. economy is unlikely to grow much, if at all over the first half of the 2008, and could even contract slightly. He expects strengthening in second half. Futures dropped on the news. At least the "strengthening in the second half" is a nice carrot for the market.
